Configure Chat Privacy Policy Notice

  • PDF

A privacy policy is a statement that describes how a company collects, uses, stores, shares, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with its website or service. When customers communicate with your company, such as through a chat using Sidekick, it is important to inform them that by starting a chat session, they are accepting your company's privacy policy.

In Sidekick, if activated, the privacy policy statement will be displayed above the chat button before a chat session begins and will remain visible during an active chat session. This ensures that customers are aware of and understand your company's privacy practices before choosing to share personal information through the chat feature.

The Privacy Policy setting in Sidekick is deactivated by default and is configured on the Sidekick configuration page.

  1. Click the menu icon on the top left corner of the screen.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under the Channels category, click Sidekick. The Sidekick page will show you a list of Sidekicks you currently have.
  4. From the Sidekick settings page, hover over the Sidekick you want to configure the Privacy Policy notice and click the pencil icon.
  5. Scroll down to the Style section to find the Privacy Policy Disclaimer setting.
    • This setting is Off by default. (box is not checked)
    • Check the box to activate the setting and enter your Privacy Policy statement. For example, "By using chat, you accept <company name> Privacy Policy."
      • Note – Keep the privacy disclaimer concise and within the 140-character limit.
    • Link back to your company's Privacy Policy page by highlighting the text and inserting the link.
  6. Click Save.
