We're updating help docs to reflect our new product naming. Gladly Sidekick (AI) is now called just Gladly, and Gladly Hero (the Platform) is now Gladly Team. Some articles may display outdated names while we update everything. Thank you for your patience! Learn more

Avoid Rules Loop

Prev Next

When you create a Rule, you ask Gladly to create systematic actions that could create a domino effect that starts with one Rule and is followed by another, etc. This depends on how many active Rules you have.

Sometimes, a Rule might create a loop, for instance, by repeatedly doing the opposite of another Rule. In the case of Triggers evaluated every minute, loops could occur if the same criteria are met every minute. This is usually seen in the Conversation Timeline, like the illustration below.

When a loop is detected, you will see Rule was disabled due to looping in the Conversation Timeline. You should review the Rules that are causing the loop and look for Action(s) that might be causing it. Gladly allows the loop to execute up to 10 times before automatically deactivating the Rule that caused it. You will see Rule was deactivated due to looping in the Conversation Timeline. Review the deactivated Rule and any related Rules to identify the Action(s) causing the loop, then adjust your Rule logic before re-enabling the Rule.
