Important product naming update: Sidekick is now called Gladly (AI) and Gladly Hero (the Platform) is now Gladly Team. Please keep this in mind as you read through our documentation.

ShipStation App Platform Installation

Prev Next

The ShipStation app is set up entirely from Gladly's Settings, with no command-line tools required. Once it is connected, your team sees each Customer's recent shipments on the Customer Profile and can look up orders, labels and fulfillments from the Conversation.

Before you start

You need a ShipStation API V2 key, and your ShipStation plan must include API access. Do not use a V1 key and secret.

Step 1: Create a ShipStation API V2 key

In ShipStation, open Settings > Account > API Settings and generate a V2 API key. A V2 key gives full access to the ShipStation account, so create it under a dedicated API user and rotate it if it is exposed.

Step 2: Open the Apps settings

In Gladly, go to Settings > Apps. This is where you manage your App Platform integrations.

Step 3: Create a configuration

Click Create Configuration. When prompted for the External App, choose the ShipStation app (gladly.com/shipstation) and select the latest version available.

Step 4: Enter your API key

Paste the key from Step 1 into API Key (a ShipStation V2 API key, not a V1 key and secret). Switch the configuration to active and save it.

Step 5: Add the card to the Customer Profile

Go to Settings > Agent Experience > Customer Profile and add the App Platform Card for the ShipStation shipments card. Set it to hide when empty, so customers with no recent shipments do not see a blank card.

Step 6: Add the agent forms

Go to Settings > Agent Experience > Agent Actions and add each ShipStation form:

  • Look up order

  • Look up labels

  • Look up fulfillments

Use Agent Actions to choose which of these Gladly AI can use as well.

Step 7 (optional): Pin the card to an order

To show one specific order on the card instead of recent shipments, create a Gladly customer custom attribute named exactly shipstation_order_number and fill it with the ShipStation order number.
