# Why can’t I see custom attributes in the Customer Profile?

A Smile Customer is associated with the Gladly Customer by email. If the Customer does not have an email address or there is no corresponding Customer in Smile, the fields will not be populated.

If you have previously customized the Customer Profile card (e.g., during the Shopify setup) the Smile fields might not be immediately visible in the UI.
