# When does chat automatically end if the Customer stops responding?

Chat Conversations can auto-end (but not auto close) if the Customer stops responding to your chat messages. The default setting is 15 minutes, but this is configurable via the [Same agent assigment time limit](https://help.gladly.com/docs/configure-messaging-routing-settings#same-agent-assignment-time-limit) setting in the [Conversation Workflow > Messsaging](https://help.gladly.com/docs/configure-messaging-routing-settings) settings.
