# Migrate From Shopify Private to Public App

Shopify has deprecated support for private apps. If you're still using the Gladly private Shopify app, complete the instructions on this page to transition to the public app.

Some benefits of migrating to the public app include:

- More seamless integration, safer sharing of data, and security.
- Easier to facilitate, track, and manage support between you, Gladly, and Shopify.
- Lower maintenance and versioning are required.

## Migrate to the public Shopify app

You must repeat the process below for every Shopify store connected to Gladly.

1. Log in to Shopify and select the correct store.
2. On the left side of the page, click **Apps**.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click **Develop apps for your store**.
4. Find the Gladly app and click ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/7047b671-c4f2-4df0-bb0a-b9b511fd2452/Images/Documentation/trash-icon.svg).
5. Click **Delete this private app**from the confirmation modal.
6. Log into Gladly as an Administrator and go to the [Apps](https://help.gladly.com/docs/add-new-integration) page.
7. From the list of apps, deactivate Shopify by clicking the toggle until the button is gray.

Next, install the new public Shopify app.

## Install Gladly Shopify app

1. Go to the [Shopify App store](https://apps.shopify.com/gladly) to find the Gladly app, click**Add app**.
  - Select the correct store from the list if you have multiple Shopify stores.
2. Follow the onscreen step-by-step instructions.
3. Click **Install App** on the subsequent screen.
4. When prompted, input your Gladly login domain in the "Already a Gladly Customer" section and click **Login**.
  - The login domain should look like this: https://customer.gladly.com. DO NOT include a / at the end (i.e., https://customer.gladly.com is valid but not https://customer.gladly.com/)

Next, validate that the app is correctly installed.

1. In Gladly, go back to the Apps page.
2. Hover over the Shopify app you deactivated previously and click ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/7047b671-c4f2-4df0-bb0a-b9b511fd2452/Images/Documentation/pencil-edit-icon.svg) to edit the app.
3. You'll know you installed the app correctly if the "Shopify Base URL" field is non-editable.
4. Click **Cancel**.
5. Toggle the Shopify app back on, so the toggle is green.

That's it! Contact [Gladly Support](https://help.gladly.com/product-docs/pages/en/contact-gladly-support-team) if you experience any issues.
