# Choose Between Answer types When Viewing Answers

As you know, there are four [Answer types](https://help.gladly.com/docs/answer-type-definitions) that you can use, but it doesn't mean every Answer will be available for every Answer type. For example, you might find an Answer type made as a Reference but not Public.

- **GRAY** **–** If a specific type of Answer doesn’t exist, the icon will be grayed out, and you won’t be able to click on it.
- **BLACK** **–** If that Answer type exists, the icon will be black, and you can click on it.
- **GREEN** **–** If the icon is green, with a green line above it, the Answer type is currently selected.

## View an Answer Type

To select a specific [type of Answer](https://help.gladly.com/docs/answer-type-definitions), click on its icon at the bottom.
