# Activate and Deactivate a Guide

## Activate a Guide

When you’re ready to publish a Guide, set it as active. To set a Guide as active, follow these steps.

1. Navigate to the Inactive or Draft tab and locate the Guide you would like to set as active.
2. Click ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/7047b671-c4f2-4df0-bb0a-b9b511fd2452/Images/Documentation/kebab-icon-vertical(1).svg)
3. Select **Set as active**.
4. A modal will pop up, confirming your choice to set the Guide as active. Click **Set as active**.
5. The Guide is now active and will appear under the **Active** tab.

> Answer Guides automatically populate under the Inactive Guides tab
> 
> To get started with Gladly, simply set the existing Guide as active.

## Deactivate a Guide

Set a Guide as **Inactive** to prevent Gladly from engaging with Customers on a given topic. To set a Guide as inactive, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Active tab and locate the Guide you would like to set as inactive.

3. Select **Set as inactive**.
4. The Guide is now inactive and will under the **Inactive** tab.

> Be mindful as to how Guides may be connected to one another
> 
> Consider if the Guide is linked to any other active Guides before setting as inactive to avoid errors or interruptions to a workflow.
